Jai is a very loyal friend to STR. At a recent press conference, Jiiva may have spoken about STR a tad disparagingly, because the journos kept badgering him with questions about how the role in super hit Ko was originally offered to STR. Fans have also stoked the flames by saying the film was not suitable for STR. Jai felt that Jiiva could have handled the situation better.

As a good friend of STR's, Jai said that the Vaanam star was a very good sport and had been genuinely happy for Jiiva when the film became a runaway hit. He had even told Jai that Jiiva deserved the hit as he is very talented. Jai talking to Behindwoods correspondent said that he thinks the press and fans may have caused the rift by making a big deal out of nothing. Jai added that after Ajith, STR was his favorite star and it bothered him when people misunderstands him especially since he is a nice guy who encourages new talent. He has also kindly requested Jiiva to be more prudent during press conferences in the future.
